The Promoter
The Horsforth Local Lottery is promoted by Horsforth Town Team and is fully licenced by Leeds City Council under the Gambling Act 2005. The lottery is managed by a dedicated subcommittee of the Town Team.
Eligibility
Tickets are available to anyone aged 16 or over. By purchasing a ticket, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. Members of the lottery subcommittee and their immediate household members are not eligible to win prizes.
Tickets
Tickets cost £1 each. They are sold for cash at designated outlets throughout Horsforth. Each ticket bears a unique number. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to keep their ticket safe and in good condition. Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets cannot be replaced, and prizes will not be paid without presentation of a valid winning ticket.
The Draw
Draws take place on the first Tuesday of every month. The subcommittee reserves the right to change the date or venue of a draw if necessary, with notice given via the website and social media. Draws are filmed and broadcast live. The results are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome of any draw.
Prizes
All prizes are paid exclusively in Horsforth Pounds (H£). No cash alternative is available under any circumstances. Prize values are calculated as a percentage of the total ticket revenue for the relevant month and rounded to the nearest whole H£. The prize structure is published on the How It Works page.
Prizes must be claimed within 28 days of the draw. Unclaimed prizes will be rolled into the fund for future good causes. Horsforth Pounds must be spent within three months of the draw date. Extensions may be requested in writing to the subcommittee.
Horsforth Pounds
Horsforth Pounds are redeemable only at participating businesses in Horsforth. They cannot be exchanged for sterling, traded, sold, or transferred to another person. No change in sterling will be given for a Horsforth Pound; each note must be spent in full in a single transaction. Counterfeiting, altering, or misusing Horsforth Pounds is strictly prohibited and may result in criminal prosecution.
Winner Verification
Winners must present their original ticket and valid photographic identification to claim a prize. Winners must also consent to having their photograph taken for the purpose of validating redemptions with participating businesses. Refusal to provide identification or consent to a photograph will result in the prize being withheld.
Good Causes Fund
Twenty percent of all ticket revenue is allocated to the good causes fund. This money is used to cover the operational costs of the lottery and to support local charities, community groups, and projects in Horsforth. Recipients of good causes funding are publicly disclosed on the website and social media.
Limitation of Liability
Horsforth Town Team, its subcommittee members, and its volunteers accept no liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in the lottery, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Data Protection
Personal data collected in connection with the lottery is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By participating in the lottery and claiming a prize, you acknowledge and accept the data processing described in that policy.
Changes to These Terms
The subcommittee reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. The current version will always be available on this website. Continued participation in the lottery after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with the lottery shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
