Last updated: 27 April 2026

The Promoter

The Horsforth Local Lottery is promoted by Horsforth Town Team C.I.C. (Company No. 14868791) and is fully licensed by Leeds City Council under the Gambling Act 2005. The lottery is managed by a dedicated subcommittee of Horsforth Town Team. Our registered office is c/o The Old Kings Arms, The Green, Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS18 6BH.

Eligibility

Tickets are available to anyone aged 18 or over. By purchasing a ticket, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. Our retail partners are required by law to refuse sales to anyone who appears to be under 18. Members of the lottery subcommittee and their immediate household members are not eligible to win prizes.

Tickets

Tickets cost £1 each. They are sold for cash at designated retail outlets throughout Horsforth. Each ticket bears a unique number. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to keep their ticket safe and in good condition. Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets cannot be replaced and prizes will not be paid without a valid winning ticket being presented.

The Draw

Draws take place on the first Tuesday of every month. The subcommittee reserves the right to change the date or venue of a draw if necessary, with advance notice given via this website and social media. Draws are filmed and broadcast live. Results are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome of any draw.

Prize Structure

Five prizes are awarded in each draw, calculated as a percentage of total ticket revenue for that month. All amounts are rounded to the nearest whole Horsforth Pound (H£).

Prize Share of Revenue
1st Prize30%
2nd Prize20%
3rd Prize15%
4th Prize10%
5th Prize5%

The total prize pool is therefore up to 80% of monthly revenue. The remaining 20% covers the running costs of the lottery and funds local charities, community groups, and other good causes. All allocations are publicly advertised.

How Prizes Are Claimed

Winning ticket numbers are announced at the draw and published on this website and social media. If you hold a winning ticket, you must contact the lottery subcommittee within 6 months of the draw date to claim your prize. Prizes that are not claimed within this period will be forfeited and will be retained for distribution to local good causes.

Winners must agree to have their photograph taken by the subcommittee. These photographs are shared with participating businesses solely for the purpose of validating prize redemptions.

Prizes Are Paid in Horsforth Pounds

All prizes are paid in Horsforth Pounds (H£). There is no cash alternative under any circumstances. Horsforth Pounds can be spent at any participating business that displays the Horsforth Pound sign. No change in sterling will be given for a Horsforth Pound note. Each note must be spent in full in a single transaction.

Horsforth Pounds must be spent within three months of the draw date. An extension may be requested in writing to the lottery subcommittee via the contact form below.

Proceeds and Transparency

Proceeds from the lottery are distributed as follows: up to 80% is returned to winners as prizes, and the remaining 20% covers operating costs and contributions to local causes. Full accounts are maintained in accordance with our licence conditions and are available on request.
